While we're on the topic of getting inspired...We've been loving DIY art and design blog theLotteryHouse for some time now, and today, author Andrea's post is so very cool and heartfelt that we just HAD to share! Check it out. Hopefully, you'll bust a creative move for a wonderful cause, too.

"I’d been itching to try this project for ages, but didn’t have a designated landing spot for the finished product, so I commenced my usual foot-dragging. Then I received an email from a high school friend, looking for art for an auction benefitting a national charity. Cassie and her husband lost their baby boy, Elijah, earlier this year, and this event is being held in his honor to raise money for Ronald McDonald House. Since I’m not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, and because the underlying theme of this artwork is love, I thought this would be the perfect project to create for the cause.

Items worth the splurge at Barneys NY (online sale), in my view, are Carven's asymmetric dress in taupe {sale price: $199}, Diane Von Furstenberg's "Flyma" dress in red-orange {sale price: $209}, Jil Sander's "Half Frame" bag {sale price: $759}, M.Patmos' shift dress in beige {sale price: $239}, and Rodarte x Opening Ceremony's deep-pleated skirt in tan {sale price: $209}.

I've created a fashionable yet practical set with each piece [via Polyvore.com] - ways in which I would wear the pieces, using items which I currently own as well as wish to own, or even mixing the items in a way that correlates with the color scheme and/or with one another in an manner that is unconventional.

Hokey Croquis

Found on our much loved fashion blog, BobbinTalk, comes the essential sketchbook for emerging or seasoned designers. The Hokey Croquis, rhymes with Hokey Pokey, Fashionflat Sketchpad from fashion designer Tamar Daniel has innovative disappearing croquis. How efficiently proportioned sketches can now come to life! We love her idea and cannot wait to see what else Tamar Daniel has in store for us!
